Police on Tuesday found the corpse of a 63-year-old woman inside her apartment in South Mumbai’s Nepean Sea Road. The cops suspect the victim’s house-help to have played a part in her alleged murder.

Police said that the deceased, identified as Jyoti Shah, was found dead inside her home, adding that the probe has begun and they are examining the CCTV footage of the building.

The cops suspect the involvement of Shah’s newly employed house-help in her murder. “The house-help, who was recently recruited, is reportedly missing since the time of the incident,” they added.

Reportedly, the victim lives with her husband — Mukesh Shah — who owns a jewellery shop in the city.

The Malabar Hill police registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 and launched an investigation into the matter.

Last month, a 32-year-old Delhi woman — who was missing since February 23 — was allegedly strangled by her business partner, who was also suspected to have committed suicide in Haryana’s Sonipat.

The woman’s corpse was found at a Narela playschool that she was planning to open with Sohan Lal, her business partner. The woman was divorced and lived with her father, police said.

Last week, a man was booked for murder after his wife and three children were found dead inside their home in Thanagazi area of Rajasthan’s Alwar district.

The victims were identified as Manju Sharma (35), her daughters Shivani (11) and nine-year-old Divyanshi, and seven-year-old son Priyanshu.

Cops registered against the husband, Tejpal Sharma, on the complaint of Manju’s brother, said Thanagazi SHO Rajesh Kumar Meena.

It appears that the accused husband had either given an injection to everyone or strangled them to death as the faces of the bodies were blue, the police said.

Again in the same week, a 22-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with a sharp-edged weapon following an argument in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district.

In this incident, which came less than a month after the couple eloped and got married, the accused — Rajaram Tanwar — called and informed his father-in-law that he had killed his daughter.

Rajaram had an argument with his wife — Sunita — in an inebriated state and in a heated point of the fight, he hit her on the head with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to her death on the spot.
